Appointment Opportunities - Planning Board & Board of Health
The Town of Sandisfield is seeking interested residents to fill a vacancy on the Planning Board and a vacancy on the Board of Health.
Please note, both Planning Board and Board of Health members are elected positions. However, in accordance with MGL Ch 41, Sec 81A, an appointment will be made jointly by the Select Board and the remaining members of the Planning Board/BOH following a recent resignation. The appointed individual will serve until the next Annual Town Election in May 2027, at which time the position will appear on the ballot for the remainder of the unexpired term.
The Planning Board is responsible for reviewing matters related to zoning, land use, subdivision regulations, and long-range planning for the Town. The Board also conducts public hearings and reviews certain development proposals and special permit applications.The Planning Board meets once per month on the second Tuesday of each month.
The Board of Health is responsible for protecting and promoting public health in the community. The Board oversees matters such as septic systems, private wells, nuisance complaints, housing and sanitary code enforcement, and other public health issues as provided by state law. The Board works closely with the Town's Health Agent to address complaints and enforce applicable health regulations. The Board of Health meets as needed, generally on the second Wednesday of each month.
