ROUTE 57 CONSTRUCTION DETOURS 9/14 - 10/16

Starting Monday, 9/14, road construction will begin on Route 57 near the Sandisfield and New Marlborough town line. 

Traffic will be a single lane on Monday and Tuesday with a Police Officer directing traffic near the New Marlborough portion of the project. 

Starting on Wednesday, 9/16 through Friday, 10/2, a two-mile section of Route 57 will be closed to traffic between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  During this time, metal road plates will be available on site for emergency vehicles to pass safely over trenches.

Detour routes

If heading West on Route 57 in Sandisfield:

  • turn left and continue on New Hartford Road
  • bear right onto South Sandisfield Road
  • stay on South Sandisfield Road till you reach Sandy Brook Turnpike a/k/a Route 183
  • turn right onto Route 183 which becomes Route 57

If heading East on Route 57 in New Marlborough:

  • at intersection of Route 183 a/k/a New Marlborough Sandisfield, bear right onto Route 183
  • stay on Route 183 until you reach South Sandisfield Road
  • turn left on to South Sandisfield Road till you reach New Hartford Road
  • turn left on to New Hartford Road. This brings you to the intersection of New Hartford Road & Route 57
  • turn right to continue on Route 57 East. 

Detour signs indicating which way to turn are posted on the detour routes as well as at intersections along Route 57.

Construction crews are currently working on the West end of Rt. 57.  If you live along that route, you will not be able to travel West bound within the construction zone until after 4:30 p.m.
