OPENING SOON…. SWAP SHED & CARDBOARD COMPACTOR AT TRANSFER STATION
“One person’s trash is another person’s treasure.”
This past week the DPW worked at the the Transfer Station, located on Sandisfield Road, to prepare the site for delivery of a new 12’ x 20’ shed and operationalize the cardboard compactor. Both the shed and compactor were obtained using grant funds and will assist with recycling efforts.
As you may have noticed, on 4/24 the Town took delivery of what will soon become the swap shed. A swap shed is a local place where residents can exchange used items that are in good working condition.
Next, the cardboard compactor delivered this past winter will be bolted to a concrete pad and a conduit and breaker box for electrical service will be installed.
The plan is to have both of these key recycling elements operational in May. Updated Transfer Station guidelines will be published soon.
As a reminder, the Transfer Station hours are:
Wednesday: 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Sunday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
