DPW UPDATE - ROAD CLOSURES DUE TO STORM DAMAGE 10/8

Due to last night's high winds, the following roads are closed at this time as a result of storm damage.  The DPW is currently assessing damage and clean up efforts are underway. Please use caution when driving.  

  • Town Hill Road is closed at house #110, in both directions.  UPDATE:  Town Hill Road is open
  • West Hubbard Road is one lane only.  Tree down on wires near the Monterey town line. UPDATE: West Hubbard Road is open. 
  • Hammertown Road (off of Cold Spring Road) is closed.  Tree down on wires.  UPDATE:  Hammertown Road is open

Situation

Yesterday, a high wind and thunderstorm event impacted Massachusetts with wind gusts in excess of 60-70 mph reported in Central and Western MA. The strong, damaging winds associated with this event resulted in widespread, significant electric customer outages. The most significant electric customer outages are concentrated in Central and Western MA.

Weather Forecast

Today will be clear and windy but there are no significant threats in the forecast. Winds gusts will between 20-30 MPH across the state. The strongest wind gusts will be experienced in North Central MA. Winds are expected to diminish by 5pm this afternoon. The weather outlook for Friday is favorable with no precipitation, sustained winds of 5- 10 MPH, and wind gusts of 15- 20 MPH.
