Letter from Sandisfield Board of Health to Sandisfield Residents,

Last week, and continuing into this week, vaccines have been administered to those people in Phase 1 - including first responders, congregate care residents & staff, etc. For more detail, please visit this link:  https://www.mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-vaccine-distribution-timeline-phase-overview#phase-1- for a list of who fits into each of these categories. Clinics for second doses are being scheduled starting the second week in February.

At this point we do not know when we will be allowed to move on to Phase 2 by the MA Department of Public Health. The Berkshire Public Health Alliance, which Sandisfield is a member of, is helping with the coordination of the vaccine distribution. They expect to be ready within a week and then will stand ready waiting for the go ahead from the state. The first group to be vaccinated in Phase 2 will be those who are 75 years of age or older, and those with certain health conditions that put them at higher risk of severe COVID disease. There is currently no way to register for an appointment if you are in Phase 2 or Phase 3 but we will send out a notice from the town and various media outlets when ready to go.

If you have additional questions about vaccinations, please call the Berkshire County Vaccination Hotline at 413-449-5575. This is a recorded message that is updated weekly.

If you would like to volunteer to help at vaccination clinics, please sign up with the Medical Reserve Corps at wmmrc.org. Tell them to be sure to select "Berkshire County" when signing up.

In the meantime, we ask that you continue to practice universal precautions including social distancing, masking, washing hands and limiting exposure/travel to large gatherings outside of your family bubble and check local and state websites. You will be notified with instructions, dates, and times from a wide array of media outlets and communication which groups are next by priority level set by the Commonwealth. Please bear with us a bit longer as we move through this unprecedented situation.

Thanks,

Sandisfield Board of Health
